Kindergarten students are given a Year 6 ‘buddy' on their first day of school. Buddies look after the kindergarten students for the first few weeks of school. Year 6 buddies come over the Kindy classrooms each recess and lunch and look after the new students in the playground. They help teach the new kindergartens the school rules and encourage them to play with their new Kindy friends.
Back in the classroom, Year 6 buddies are invited to come and join in with the kindergarten lessons. They read to the students, help them with their writing and join in with art lessons. Each year students make Easter Hats at school. The Year 6 buddies help the kindergartens make their hats for the parade.
