Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.
According to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), students are expected to participate in PDHPE for between 1.5 and 2.5 hours per week in Kindergarten to Year 6.
PDHPE provides students with opportunities to explore issues that are likely to impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others – now and in the future. Students also participate in challenging and enjoyable physical activity, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence.
School Carnivals
The school runs their own sporting carnivals annually, which include:
- Primary Swimming Carnival (Years 3-6) - Events include 50m and 100m freestyle, breast stroke, back stroke, butterfly as well as medley and relay events. There are also various novelty events for less confident swimmers. This event is usually held at a local public swimming pool.
- Primary Athletics Carnival (Years 3-6) - Events include 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m track events. We also offer field events including shotput, long jump and high jump. This event is held at the Blacktown Olympic Sporting Complex.
- Infants Athletics Carnival (Years K-2) - Events include 50m track events and a variety of novelty events. This event is held within school grounds.
- Cross-Country Carnival (Years 2-6) - Held at the school. Courses vary depending on age of participant. This event is held within the school grounds and the surrounding ovals.
The school regularly sends representatives to compete at the Zone , Regional and State carnivals and has recently had a successful student claim several National track event titles. Go Beresford!

PSSA Sports Competitions
Beresford Road Public School is a participating school in the Wentworthville PSSA competition. The school has been participating for a number of years and holds several of the PSSA 1st place titles. The school prides itself on the number of opportunities it provides to its students to participate in regular sporting activity.
PSSA Summer Competition
The PSSA summer competition runs in school term 1 and again in term 4. Students can represent the school in one of the following team sports:
- AFL
- Tee-Ball
- Soft Ball
- Newcombe Ball
PSSA Winter Competition
The PSSA winter competition runs consecutively in school term 2 and 3. Students can represent the school in one of the following team sports:
- Aus-Tag
- Football
- Netball
